By bike, on foot, sustainably: M Computers in the Bike to Work Challenge

This year, we have also joined the nationwide Do Work by Bike challenge, which motivates individuals and companies to use sustainable modes of transport – whether by bike, on foot, on foot or even on a scooter. This environmentally and health-friendly initiative has become a pleasant May tradition at M Computers.

Record participation across branches

Every year more colleagues join the challenge and this year has been a record year so far. In total, 20 colleagues participated and formed 5 teams: 3 teams in Brno, 1 team in Prague and 1 team in Zlín.

And we didn’t slack off – we covered a total of 3,123 kilometres, saving 499.6 kg of carbon dioxide emissions. Every kilometre counts, and ours helped contribute to cleaner air and less traffic in cities.

Internal motivation as part of the challenge

To make the routes even more enjoyable, we also announced an internal motivational competition: individuals could win a voucher worth CZK 300 to Decathlon if they achieved a personal regularity of at least 50% during the month.Teams had the chance to win CZK 1,000 for a team party if they managed to maintain a regularity of at least 66% for the whole team.

We believe that the rewards and the common goal contributed to greater enthusiasm and team spirit.

Why do we keep doing this every year?

The Bike to Work Challenge, organised by the Auto*Mat association, is not only about movement, but also about changing habits. Every step or pedal stroke counts – for individual health, a better urban environment and lower emissions. In addition, data from the challenge helps cities plan safer infrastructure.
