Ultrastar DC HC550 integrates a suite of technologies on a 9-disk platform to create a new class of HDDs. The 18TB capacity is achieved through a combination of technologies that improve areal density, all while working with technologies that improve performance and reduce power consumption.

Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC650
Ultrastar DC HC650 is HDD with host-managed SMR enables the highest capacity HDDs for data centres. Media tracks are overlapped (or ‘shingled’) with adjacent tracks, resulting in greater tracks per inch (TPI) to achieve increased areal density.

Western Digital Ultrastar DC SN640
Ultrastar DC SN640 is NVMe SSD is a mainstream NVMe™ SSD targeting broad deployment as boot, caching, or primary storage in data centre IT and cloud environments. The DC SN640 is optimized to deliver the highest performance and consistent QoS read latency when running randomly mixed workloads typically generated by enterprise applications such as virtualization, OLTP, NoSQL, web servers, file servers, and mail servers.
Boosts data centre performance and responsiveness as direct-attached, distributed storage or in large scale cloud deployments.

are a key element of next-generation disaggregated storage and Software-Defined Storage
(SDS) systems. The platforms represent two variants of 4U JBODs
that can be connected via HBA or HW RAID controller to any server
to expand the total available capacity by 60 to 102 3.5″ drives.

ArcticFlow is a specially designed disk cooling system where the entire system is divided into two separate parts (front and rear).
IsoVibe reduces vibrations on individual HDDs and fans to increase overall reliability.
Zoning, where each I/O module has 6 × SFF 8644 and each of these connectors can be assigned any number of HDD positions.
JBOF platforms
JBOF variant OpenFlex Data24 extends high performance NVMe flash to shared storage. By doing so, it provides low-latency sharing of NVMe SSD drives via high-performance Ethernet connectivity, which provides similar performance to locally connected NVMe SSD drives. RapidFlex™ technology then allows up to six guests to connect without using a switch. This storage platform can also be used as a separate storage source in disaggregated infrastructures.
