HCI deployment in Šternberk Psychiatric Hospital
Our VMware vSAN-based solution has helped to develop the IT infrastructure of the Šternberk Psychiatric Hospital. This has made it easier to manage individual functions while expanding existing computing and storage capacities.
Original customer situation
In 2016, the management of the Štemberk Psychiatric Hospital was in the process of deciding on the further development of IT infrastructure. From a technical point of view, it was a classic corporate network: Servers, storage, networks – all taken gradually over the years and at the limit of capacity, durability or support. It was necessary to decide whether to gradually change the existing solution and prepare for expansion in the event of an increase in IT requirements – or to go in a completely new direction, replacing the existing infrastructure with a hyperconverged solution .
In the sign of HCI
Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) is a modern approach to corporate infrastructure. It is a complete solution that provides computing power along with data capacity while using effective tools for easy management and deployment. It is basically an all-in-one solution: What used to require a powerful server room, cooling, and a team of administrators, administrators will solve with several multi-functional boxes.
The HCI principle is based on massive hardware virtualization, which simplifies deployment and subsequent management. This will make it difficult for administrators to split the functionality of individual servers, data stores, and network elements. In the world of hyperconvergence, everything is software-defined, uniformly administered, maximally scalable and significantly reduces operating costs (TCO). In addition, central administration significantly reduces the complexity of the hardware structure.
Deployment at the customer
After a successful tender, in which M Computers and its design of the HCI solution won, the deployment itself took place. This was done according to the agreed plan, when, with the assistance of experts from M Computers and Lenovo, the old hardware was gradually disconnected, and the deployment and configuration of the new solution. The whole procedure was carried out according to the tent plan and schedule, the virtual environment is intuitive and the administrators of the psychiatric hospital had no problem controlling it. In cooperation with M Computers, they then adapted the solution environment to their requirements and needs.
