Company Canoeing Trip on the Vltava

Eighteen colleagues from our offices in Brno, Prague, and Zlín took part in this year’s company kayaking trip. Over the long weekend, we spent two days on the water and enjoyed some time together outside the workplace.

We head out onto the Vltava River every two years, and this year was no exception when it came to the kind of experiences that are part of our company’s water adventures. Friday’s changeable weather gave way to a sunny Saturday, which offered ideal conditions for a relaxing trip. We also encountered several weirs, a couple of capsized boats, and an evening concert by our colleague Petr Plodík.

on Thursday

We set out on Thursday after work, and the Kanak Branná campground became our base for the entire weekend. Upon arrival, most of us stayed in cabins, but three daredevils chose to camp in a tent, and one colleague slept in his car. We spent the evening together at the campground, getting in the mood for the next two days on the river.

The First Day from Vyšší Brod

On Friday morning, the canoeing bus took us to Vyšší Brod, where the canoes were already waiting for us. From there, we set off down the Vltava River back toward the campsite, completing a total of 21 km on the canoeing route.

The weather during the day wasn’t exactly summery. Sunny spells gave way to cloudy spells, bringing cooler temperatures. But that didn’t take away from the leisurely pace of the cruise or the day we spent together.

A Sunny Canoe Trip
to Český Krumlov

On Saturday, three crew members had to leave us due to other commitments, so fifteen of us set out on the water. This time, we boarded the boats right at the campground, and our destination was Český Krumlov.

The weather on Saturday was perfect. Under sunny skies, we covered 13 kilometers during the day and navigated several weirs along the way. Although most crews already had some kayaking experience, a few boats managed to capsize, giving their crews a chance to experience the Vltava up close. After reaching Český Krumlov, we returned the boats and headed back to the campground.

The End of the Weekend

We spent Saturday evening in a nearby village at a concert by our colleague Petr Plodík. A few brave souls even joined him on stage in the end, and they brought the final evening of the entire event to a close by singing together. On Sunday, all that was left was packing, saying our goodbyes, and heading home.

The company outing once again gave us the opportunity to meet with colleagues from various branches outside of our usual work environment and share a number of memorable experiences.
