Intel Xeon 5 processors. generation

The new generation of Intel Xeon scalable server processors brings further improvements and innovations over the previous “Sapphire rapids” series. This generation, “Emerald rapids” focuses on performance optimization for HPC systems and artificial intelligence (AI) training clusters due to the increasing popularity of these segments. We regularly update the availability of all chips and their prices, the date on which the information is current is given below the table.

Intel Xeon scalable 5th Generation processor architecture

The new generation of Intel Xeon server processors once again brings further improvements, this time especially for HPC and AI applications, which are on a rapid rise.
The platform for the new processors remains the same, i.e. the FCLGA4677 (E1A) socket is the same as the one for the previous series, and as standard you should just need to update the BIOS and you can deploy the processors. Intel is still sticking with Intel 7 lithography, which despite the misleading name still means the 10nm architecture that is starting to hold Intel back these days. However, even on this architecture Intel has built some very interesting processors that are definitely a good choice for a new or existing build.
