Electrical waste recycling
Through our cooperation with the REMA System collection network, we responsibly recycled 830 kg of electrical equipment in 2024. In doing so, we have not only contributed to their material reuse, but also to saving electricity, water and reducing mineral extraction. We also saved up to 3872 kg of waste that would have been generated by extracting the raw materials needed for the production of electrical equipment if the raw materials from the electrical waste we handed in had not been used for recycling.
The calculation of environmental savings was carried out in cooperation with CI3, s.r.o., which is an accredited CDP partner for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The source of data for the calculations was data on the treatment of end-of-life electrical equipment from treatment facilities with which REMA System cooperated in 2024 and data for the evaluation of environmental savings from the latest Ecoinvent database version 3.11.
Own photovoltaic power plant
In addition to the recycling of electrical waste, we also use cleaner forms of energy to operate our branch in Brno. We operate a photovoltaic power plant (PV plant) on the roof of our company building, which helps us to reduce CO₂ emissions and increase energy self-sufficiency. Thanks to its operation, we contributed to saving a total of 9,214 tonnes of CO₂ in 2024 .
This result shows that investing in renewable energy not only makes economic sense, but also environmental sense. The energy produced from PV covers part of our corporate consumption and reduces our dependence on conventional sources.
Cycling to work
In 2024, our employees once again joined the Bike to Work initiative. This project aims to motivate employees to use greener modes of transport such as cycling, walking or running to get to work. Reducing car journeys not only helps to improve the environment but also promotes a healthier lifestyle. Our participation in the challenge contributed to saving 681 tonnes of CO2 emissions across the Czech Republic – specifically, we saved 452.8 kilograms – and our teams walked and cycled a total of 2,830 kilometres on their journeys to/from work. Find out more about our participation here.
