Press conference of the RECAIP project
We visited a press conference of the RECAIP project (Research and Innovation Center for Advanced Industrial Production) at Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC), Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague today. We are looking forward to working with CIIRC CTU on their AI projects together with Nvidia.
The founding partners of the RECAIP project are CIIRC CTU in cooperation with CEITEC VUT in Brno, DFKI (Deutsches Forschungzentrum für Kunstliche Intelligenz) and ZeMA (Zentrum für Mechatronik und Automatisierungstechnik), both from Saarbrücken. RICAIP aims to build a unique distributed research and experimental workstation “RICAIP Industrial Testbed Core”, the first of its kind in Europe to develop and test innovative solutions for advanced and fully integrated industrial production, constantly optimizing to the changing environment. RICAIP was prepared in two phases as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 call WIDESPREAD-04-2017-Teaming. As a result, CIIRC CTU will be able to get approximately 27 million EUR, CEITEC VUT in Brno 17.7 million EUR, and German partners 3.7 million EUR in total. Most of the new technological equipment will be purchased in Prague and Brno Testbed already in 2020.
During the press conference, representatives of the participating organizations presented the details of the RECAIP project:
- prof. Vladimír Mařík, Scientific Director of CIIRC CTU
- prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, founder of the RECAIP project, DFKI
- prof. Jana Koehler, director of DFKI
- Ing. Petr Očko, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade
- Doc. Vojtěch Petráček, Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague
During the event, the projects Flexible Production, Distributed Dimension based on a combination of augmented and virtual reality, Interaction with a remote production line based on augmented reality, or Assist-by-X: Plug and play modular visual assistance system were also presented.
